Materials: None Grade: K-12 Goal(s): To enhance non-verbal communication skills and teamwork.
1. Have the actors work in small groups of 5 or 7. 2. Call out a shape (circle, square, isosceles triangle, etc). The actors create the requested shape within 5-10 seconds. 3. The actors create the shape without talking, mouthing words, or using directive gestures. The actors must create the shape by watching and following each other. All of the actors must be present in every shape.
Suggested Variation(s): Let each group callout a shape for another group to make.
Raising The Bar:
After trying geometrical shapes move onto objects (a school bus, a violin, the world's largest toothbrush, etc.).
Use objects from a Shakespearean play.
Have the actors animate the object, bringing the object to life.
